For iPhone and iPad
A little space for what matters
A pocket notebook, made digital, and more. Plans, lists, recipes, trips and ideas, with you wherever you go. Write, type, sketch, or tuck in a photo.
Coming soon to the App StoreFree for iPhone and iPad, and made to unfold on iPhone Duo.

One notebook, every kind of page
Whatever you're working on, there's paper for it
Pick a paper and a page color, then write, type, highlight and paint on the same page. Search finds it all later.

Make room for yourself
A few lines about today. Something you noticed. Something you want to remember.

Run your week
Type the fixed things, write in the rest, and highlight what matters.

Plan the trip
Type the plan, highlight the must-sees and scribble the packing list.

Count the good things
A Gratitude page with a place for each: three things, someone you appreciate, a small joy.
Seal what's private
Some things are just for you. Seal a single page or a whole notebook. A sealed page folds shut like an envelope, stamped in wax with your own initials, and opens only with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
It closes again when you leave the app. Search skips what's inside, and reminders from a sealed page stay vague on your lock screen.
Fast by design
Start in seconds
Good ideas show up at the worst times, so the notebook has to be quicker than the thought.

Four quick steps
Name it, pick a cover, choose the paper and give it a little age. Change the material, pattern and colors as you go, or shuffle and undo until it feels right.

Every page at a glance
Pinch partway for a carousel of pages, or switch to a grid of all of them. Tap a page number to jump straight to it.

Lettered your way
Name it, then pick the lettering, the label behind it and what goes in the top corner, before you write a word.

Right where you left off
One tap opens a notebook to the page you were on, so the next thought goes straight down.
Artist Packs
Notebooks made with people who make things
Discover brings packs of covers and paper from artists and makers. Add one and its covers join your Starters. Remove it whenever you like.
Rangefinder
Roger Seng, filmmaker and photographer
Covers in camera black, brushed chrome and safelight red, and Darkroom paper: near black, with pale dots. On it, your pen and your typing turn light, like notes on a print under the safelight.
Why it exists
Some things need a page.
Gratefold started with storyboards. Then came plans, lists, recipes, and notes to my future self.
I wanted a notebook that felt personal: paper I could choose, a cover that grew familiar, and space to write without deciding what kind of writing it had to be.
That's what Gratefold became. What goes inside yours is up to you.

On iPhone Duo
Open it, and it's a desk
Unfold your iPhone Duo and your notebook spreads across two facing pages, with everything on the shelf a tap away.
Try it
Go on, open it
Tap the cover, then draw with your finger, mouse or stylus. Tap + to add text you can move and turn, or use the page button to change the paper. Nothing here is saved.
Everything a good notebook does
Ink stays ink
Write with your finger or Apple Pencil and it saves as handwriting. Nothing gets converted unless you ask.
Type, Draw or Select
Every notebook opens with no tool in your hand, so pages just turn. Double tap to start typing, or pick a tool and its options appear.
Text anywhere
Add plain text with one tap, drag it anywhere on the page and turn it to any angle.
Highlight behind the words
Marker sits under your text, so nothing you wrote gets covered.
Paper for every job
Gratitude, Planner, Journal, Project, Trip, Recipe, Reading Log and Storyboard. Most come in a version to write on and one to type on, and every page can have its own.
A color for every page
Cream, white or a soft tint for the whole notebook, and any page can have a color of its own.
Artist packs
Covers and paper made with artists, from Discover. Add a pack, try it, and remove it any time.
Covers you can feel
Cotton paper, felt, cork or waxed cloth, in your colors and patterns. Each one wears in its own way: felt pills, cork darkens where you hold it, waxed cloth creases.
Taped-in photos
Tap a photo to move, resize or rotate it, and layer it above or below the others.
Coloring pages
Bring in line art, place it on the page, and color it in with marker and watercolor. The lines stay crisp on top.
Search your handwriting
Find what you typed or wrote by hand across every notebook. Handwriting is read right on your phone.
Backups you control
Back up on a schedule to a folder you choose in iCloud Drive.
Share as a file
Send a page as a JPG or PDF, or a whole notebook as a PDF.
Patina
Covers scuff and fade and pages yellow as a notebook gets used.
Starters and Surprise Me
Start from a ready-made notebook, or let the dice pick a cover, name and paper. Press and hold a paper to keep it while everything else changes.
Bookmarks
Mark a page and jump straight back to it.
Nudges
Type @nudge tomorrow at 5pm on any line and get a reminder.
Bundles
Keep related notebooks together, and arrange them your way.
Pages that grow
Start with one page and add more whenever you like. The back cover has a button for a new one.
Carousel and grid
Pinch partway to fly through every page, or switch to a grid of all of them. Drag to reorder, or select several to move, copy or delete.
Jump to any page
Tap the page number and pick the page you want. Long notebooks are one tap from anywhere.
A real page turn
Pages curl under your finger, with paper on the back. Pinch or swipe past a cover to close the notebook.
Undo and Redo
Step back and forward through text, ink, photos and boxes while you work.
A few secrets
There is more in here than this page lets on. Tap around.

Nothing is final
Plans change. Most apps turn a pen stroke into something you can only erase, but Gratefold keeps every line editable. In Select, tap a line, or hold and drag to circle several, then change their color and thickness, drag them somewhere better, or pinch to resize.
Tap a photo to move, resize or rotate it, and send it forward or back when you're layering a page. Undo and Redo cover all of it.
Only on iPhone Duo
Designed around the fold
Closed, it's a notebook
Fold your iPhone Duo and the outside screen becomes the notebook's cover, in the exact proportions of the folded phone.
Open, it's a spread
Unfold sideways for two facing pages with a real spine, or hold it upright for one big page.
The camera has a place
Every cover has a black dot exactly where the Duo's camera sits, so the camera becomes part of the notebook.
Half open, it's a book
Hold your Duo partway open, like a paperback, and the fold becomes a spine, with the depth of your pages along the edges.
Controls under the camera
Navigation stays in one column below the camera, in the same spot on every screen.
